|Summary||0000987: Build problem|
I build graphviz out of source code and followed the instructions of the
installation tips of http://www.graphviz.org/pub/scm/graphviz2/doc/winbuild.html [^]
First I ran the batch file build.bat with the variable settings:
set vc=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003
after that, while building the workspace "graphviz" in MS Visual Studio .NET 2003 (7)
I got several warnings about parsing from double to int and 2 errors.
-lefty fatal error LNK1181: cannot open input file 'gfx.lib'
- dot fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'cdt.lib'
the warnings are looking like this:
c:\app\ATT\graphviz-win-2\graphviz-win\lib\common\vrmlgen.c(300): warning C4244: '=' : conversion from 'double' to 'int', possible loss of data
After the build I tried to convert a .dot file to an .wrl file
with the cmd dot -Tvrml file.dot > file.wrl
and the dot engine broke.
It is a problem that IŽve used the Version 7 of MS Visual Studio and the included workspaces
have build in version 6??
[erg] The first question is, why do you want to build the software since the binaries
are already available?
Did you get any errors when running build.bat? If not, the software is built and ready
to be installed. You just need to copy the binaries, libraries, etc. into the appropriate
directories. See the install.bat script.
The .dsp files are not set up with the necessary dependency information, since this caused problems.
So you need to do a build on each project, saving dot and lefty to last.
These warnings are harmless.
Using Version 7 should not be causing any problems.
We are not very knowledgeable about building on Windows, and don't have the time or resources
to maintain a totally separate build system based on VC. We provide Graphviz already compiled, and
the .bat file. Beyond that, we assume anyone desiring to build from source probably knows more about
using VC than we do, and should be able to fill in the missing pieces.
