Summary0000887: Escape sequence "\\" not correctly interpreted in Dot record labels

The escape sequence "\\" is not correctly interpreted in Dot record labels
At least, it's not interpreted as I expect...
Steps To Reproduce

// $ dot -V
// dot version 1.10 (Thu Jul 10 02:30:40 EDT 2003)
// $ dot -Tps > /dev/null
// Error: bad label format {a|\\}

digraph a{

et1 [shape=record,label="{a|\\}"];

Additional Information

In the attached case, "dot -Tps" produces an error message:
bad label format {a|\\}
I expected a record with two fields: the upper one showing the "a" char
the bottom one showing the "\" char
I found the same problem in a SuSE Linux 9.1 with gviz1.5.1 (09-29-99)
In a non-record label, the same string is properly interpreted
as representing a five char sequence (just one "\")
