|Summary||0000451: Unexpected cluster behavior in dot|
I'd like to call a Graphviz bug (or at least an
unexpected and undesired behavior) to your attention.
\<A HREF=b506a.dot\>This graph\</A\> renders quite nicely.
Let me draw your attention in
particular to the VCSRunner subgraph.
The second graph is identical to the first, except that it moves the edge
labeled "6..." into subgraph cluster2. I expected this to
reposition the edge label to appear inside the subgraph box.
It might or might not have been reasonable to expect this, since
in any event the arrow links a node from outside the subgraph
to one inside the subgraph. It is difficult, however, to see
what other difference this move should logically make.
However, moving this edge into the subgraph in fact also moves
the node at its tail into the subgraph, while failing to render
it according to the subgraph node coloring convention. The
node moved inside is node l0. Since this node is clearly specified
to be outside the subgraph, this is certainly a bug.
[erg] The reported behavior is correct. Nodes get the default attributes
when they are defined, while declaring an edge in a cluster makes the
end nodes part of that cluster.
