Summary0000405: "lost spline of [node name]" error when using clusters

I am creating picture objects using vb6:
Dim obj
   Set obj = CreateObject("")

If obj Is Nothing Then Exit Sub

   Text1.Text = obj.ToPlain(txtSource.Text)

   Dim img
   Set img = obj.ToGif(txtSource.Text)

If img Is Nothing Then Exit Sub

   Set Picture1.Picture = img.Picture

Certain graph configurations produce this error:

lost spline of node# 0 node# 1
lost spline of node# 0 node# 2
lost spline of node# 0 node# 3
lost spline of node# 0 node# 4
lost spline of node# 0 node# 5
lost spline of node# 0 node# 6
lost spline of node# 0 node# 7
lost spline of node# 0 node# 8
lost s

This error only occurs when I am using clusters.

If I create the graph without the cluster information, then there is no error.

I also note that it is possible to add different nodes and clusters, without producing the error.
It only seems to be certain clusters that produce the error.

I searched through the bug list and documentation, but could find no mention of this error.

To remove the error when using the dot example, remove clusters 12 and higher (12, 15, 16, 18)
