|Summary||0000282: dotty refuses to load my dag|
I invoked dotty from the start menu, right clicked the GUI's canvas
control, and requested that it load a dot file that my program had
constructed. The operation failed, and a response dialog requested
that I complete this bug report.
I routinely use dotty to display dags created by my program. These
dags have aritrary content and form. It is very unusual for dotty to
refuse to load one--this being the first time it has occurred without
the problem being clearly caused by a bug in my dag data file.
[erg] Apparently, dot cannot do this graph. It loops or something in
setting the x coordinates.
Further investigation shows this to be the type of graph causing a huge
blowup due to dummy nodes. The graph goes from 337 nodes and 445 edges
to 42646 nodes and 64474 edges in dot_position. With ratio=compress
and size=4,4, finding the initial feasible tree takes several minutes.
The network simplex phase runs for a long, long time. Basically, dotty
can't load the dag because dot never finishes. It is probably necessary
to set nslimit to some more finite value.
