|Summary||0002449: alt attributes for area tags in cmaps|
|Description||Thank you for your work on these awesome tools!|
It would be nice if you could re-enable alt attributes for area tags in cmaps.
As far as I can see, they were removed (set to alt="") in 2004 because of Internet Explorer's former misuse of alt attributes as tooltips. With IE Version 8 this browser seems to work as expected and uses the title attribute as tooltip.
This change would:
- improve support for people with visual disability
- support users of some text browsers
- make the image contents better indexable by search engines
A nice addon would be to also enable configuring the alt attribute via HTML-like labels like <TD alt="something">.
Thanks for considering!
