Summary0002324: gv_python library should be listed in Python Package Index
DescriptionThe Python Package Index, located at https://pypi.python.org/pypi [^] is intended to list all public distributions of python language libraries (modules and packages). PyPI is analogous to "CPAN" for the perl language. As a very complete public resource, it is the basis for many commonly-used tools, such as "pip", "virtualenv", and "easy_install". PyPI currently has no listing for "gv" or "gv_python", although it has many entries for third-party "non-canonical" packages that interact with Graphviz. The lack of a "gv" entry makes it less convenient to use this library in a variety of environments, e.g. on a shared host. Because it's not in PyPI, many python developers are likely not even to be aware of this library, and many more will eschew it for Graphviz packages that are better integrated into their workflow.
Additional InformationTo fix this, someone on the project needs to register at this page:

https://pypi.python.org/pypi?%3Aaction=register_form [^]

Then the entry for "gv" must be created. This may be done at this page:

https://pypi.python.org/pypi?%3Aaction=submit_form [^]

Tools like "pip" are pretty good at finding packages to install and use even if very minimal information is provided in this form.

I registered, then tried to manually fill in the form, only to get an unhelpful error message: "Not found()"

Not sure I understand how this is supposed to work? I've no interest in distributing graphviz-python from another location. Nor do I want the hassle of updating version numbers in a new place every time we update graphviz.

If all they want is a description and a pointer to http://www.graphviz.org/ [^] then fine, but somebody needs to help me set it up.
