This graph isn't too complex, only 12 nodes. graphviz should try to eliminate edge alignments where possible, unless the graph is so large that it makes separation impossible.

After several testing scenarios I will say this appears to be related to how the Record shape is handled when using the {<>| | } format for label; same issue does not occur on using HTML based label for Record shape.

poor rendering confirmed in both 2.28 and 2.29.
