PlatformOSx86-OSX-10.6.6OS Version
Summary0002023: Graphviz does not install Mac OS10.6.6
Description

I have tried installing 2.14.1 and the latest development version of 2.17.2. After installation
I can find no location for graphviz-x anywhere on my machine and no directory of the name
local. No receipt is written in Preferences. It looks like it is going through the motions and
not installing. Trying to us it with protege.

Please help as graphic output is quite important.

Additional Information

Did you mistype the version numbers you are trying? Or did you get them
from somewhere else?

The latest stable and development releases for Mac from
http://www.graphviz.org/ [^] are:
<CD>
    graphviz-2.26.3.pkg
    graphviz-2.27.20110113.0545.pkg
</CD>

The development release was built on a OSX - 10.6 system, and was
updated yesterday to
use more recent dependencies such as pango and cairo.

The user is probably getting the builds from my web site:

http://www.ryandesign.com/graphviz/ [^]

I stopped making those builds over three years ago and don't plan to resume; I now direct my energy to MacPorts, where up-to-date versions of Graphviz can be found, and of course there are the official builds in your download section as well. I'll replace my page with a message stating it's obsolete. You should remove references to this site from your web site:

http://www.graphviz.org/Download..php [^]

Delete this entire paragraph, under the "Mac OS X" heading:

"Standalone installer packages of latest stable versions and nightly snapshots. (For testing the new smyrna viewer: the MacPorts prerequisites are, at least, gtkglext and libglade. This will bring in scads of other packages, probably including new versions of perl, python, ssh, and multimedia players, in case you ever want to replace your entire OSX desktop with Gnome. Hey you just might! If you check out code from cvs, also install a new automake to generate a working configure script.)"

The second link is still accurate:

"MacPorts Latest stable version of Graphviz for Mac OS X"

However, please change it so it indicates that both stable and development versions of Graphviz (including the Mac GUI Graphviz.app) are available in MacPorts. It would also help to indicate that the new Graphviz.app is an updated version of the one originally made by Pixelglow, so that users are not enticed to try the old Pixelglow version. If you'd like to be more specific, you could state that Graphviz is in the port "graphviz", Graphviz.app is in the port "graphviz-gui", and development versions of these are "graphviz-devel" and "graphviz-gui-devel", respectively.

If this is true, please let us know and try using the macports version of Graphviz.

Yes, your observation is correct. Found the macports site and will try it soon.

Glad people were persistent.
