PlatformOSx86-Windows-XP SP2OS Version
Summary0001049: dot crash in version 2.4 and 2.6 in windows and linux
Description

running
dot firmware.dot
in either cygwin or the graphviz gui causes dot to crash and popup the
"dot.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience." box

Commenting out the line "ui -> uart" causes dot to run successfully.
Moving that line to a different point in the file does not fix the problem,
nor do cosmetic non-syntactical changes such as whitespace addition appear
to fix the problem.

Running the same input on a linux computer succeeded. The linux computer's
setup was:
<CD>
kernel 2.6.15
dual amd64
graphviz 1.12-r1
</CD>

Upgrading the linux computer to graphviz 2.6 causes dot to crash with the
error message:
<CD>
Error: trouble in init_rank
*** glibc detected *** malloc(): memory corruption: 0x00000000006b60a0 ***
Aborted
</CD>

Commenting out "ui -> uart" and running dot 2.6 on linux causes a crash
with the error message:
<CD>
Error: trouble in init_rank
Segmentation fault
</CD>

Commenting out the last three lines
<CD>
  //audio -> midi[dir=both]
  //midi -> uart[dir=both]
  //ui -> uart
</CD>
causes dot to complete successfully.
Additional Information

I will be trying to recreate this bug on linux with different versions
of graphviz and post my results.
