same here. the include\graphviz\textspan.h file is missing from the installer and from the .zip for the 0.36 Windows version.

so I downloaded the source code tarball and found lib\common\textspan.h and then copied it into c:\Program Files (x86)\Graphviz-2.36\include\graphviz.

I don't see a textspan.h easily I could link to, so you'll need to get the compressed tar ball from http://www.graphviz.org/Download_source.php

textspan.h is now included in the 2.37 version. For those who just want to grab it, here it is. Install it with the other Graphviz include files. By default, this will be in a folder named something like C:\Program Files\Graphviz2.36\include\graphviz.

For the record, we use the convention that odd numbers are development versions, so the next stable release will be 2.38. On the other hand, our development versions are usually pretty solid.

Just if you couldn't solve this yet ...

I just encountered the same problem: I downloaded and installed http://graphviz.org/pub/graphviz/stable/windows/graphviz-2.36.zip and got the same error due to missing 'textspan.h'

To fix this I downloaded the sources from http://www.graphviz.org/pub/graphviz/stable/SOURCES/graphviz-2.36.0.tar.gz, in there I found the 'textspan.h' in 'graphviz-2.36.0\lib\common'. I copied this file to the path where my <gvc.h> resides and the build error dissapears.

Hope this helps,

ZOPPO
