3d neato graph layout

I'm trying to create a 3d surface using neato. The only information I can find says it is possible but does not explain how to do it. Has anyone done it and if so could they walk me through it?
Currently only getting 2d outputs even though dim=3 has been set.
Thanks

The dim attribute determines

The dim attribute determines how many dimensions are used during layout. The dimen attribute determines how many dimensions are used during rendering. If you just set dimen, that value will be used for both. See http://www.graphviz.org/content/attrs#ddimen for  more details.

thanks, that's sorted it out

thanks, that's sorted it out if I use .dot output

Graphviz does have a vrml

Graphviz does have a vrml renderer, but all the others are strictly 2D, so the only way to use the 3D info is to provide your own viewer or render using the coordinates in the .dot file.
