Title: the "ask " built-in may not work correctly

Problem:
some of the options from the contextual menus don't work - set graph/node/edge attr , find node , group .... ; find node gives a strange error message "cannot find node: " and some text like this "@&^!#J"; all the others simply don't do anything;

i tested the "ask" built-in and for the "choice" and "string" types it returns some random data but does not prompt the user.

[erg] In general, lefty/dotty/lneato rely on Windows 2000 or Windows XP or later.
