Submitter: Alexander Krumpholz
Date: Sun Aug 16 21:30:55 2009
Subsys: Mac GUI
Version: 2.20.3
System: x86-OSX-10.5.8
Severity: critical
Problem:
Graphviz immediately dies on startup, leaving the following System.log entry:

Aug 17 11:23:39 host Graphviz[6942]: Unable to load nib file: MainMenu, exiting
Comments:
[erg] Please try installing the latest stable release package

http://www.graphviz.org/Download_macos.php

and let us know if you are still having problems.

[alex] Unfortunately, the error still occurs. I installed the stable version (graphviz-2.24.0.pkg) over whatever has been installed before. Is there anything I should delete, could there be leftover files from previous installs?

[north] Alex, do either of these apply?

[glen] Looks like you had an old Pixelglow Software version of the Graphviz GUI lying around. You should do a spotlight search for Graphviz and delete all other versions of Graphviz especially those that are 1.xx. Ensure that your Time Machine backup drive is off line just to be sure. Then run the latest stable installer again (2.24.0).
